Welcome to the 2023 Fall term! We hope that you enjoyed the summer. As you ramp up for school or training, we invite you to view this short video on the status of our modernization efforts coming into year two.
This academic year, VA remains hard at work to ensure that you receive your earned education benefits. We continue to make improvements to our IT systems through our Digital GI Bill® modernization. Such improvements will include an easier way for you to apply for benefits and faster benefits decisions. Throughout the year, we will share more details about these improvements.
Note that if you have changed your bank account or moved to a new address, you should contact VA Education Service to update your information either on the GI Bill website through our “Ask a Question” link or by phone at 1-888-GIBILL-1 (1-888-442-4551). If we do not have your correct information, your payment may be delayed.
If you’re a Veteran using the Post-9/11 GI Bill® or a Fry Scholar, the Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship may allow you to receive added benefits of up to 9 months or $30,000. You must:
- Be enrolled in a qualifying STEM program,
- Have completed a certain amount of time on your degree,
- Have 6 months or less of your benefits left (if you apply too soon, you’ll be denied).
Learn more about what types of degrees and what fields qualify, and apply, on our website.
Also, the Yellow Ribbon Program assists eligible Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) students who attend a degree-granting school where tuition and fees exceed the annual benefit limit. You can use the Yellow Ribbon Search Tool to see if your school participates.
Finally, be sure to add Veteransbenefits@messages.va.gov to your contacts and follow us on Facebook, to make sure you catch all of our updates!
We wish you a successful 2023 Fall term. Your future starts here!
