Aid & Attendance for Qualified Veterans
VA Aid and Attendance or Housebound benefits provide tax-free monthly payments added to the amount of a monthly VA pension. In addition to being available for Veterans, single surviving spouses and dependent children are also eligible for this benefit. To qualify for these benefits, the Veteran or their surviving family member must meet income and asset thresholds. New Separation Health Assessment Form
When transitioning out of the military, service members have been required to complete a Department of Defense (DoD) health assessment. VA has also required a similar separation examination for those filing disability claims. Now VA and DoD are introducing a single comprehensive exam form to streamline the claim process, reduce redundant examinations, and ensure medical assessments are more accurate and thorough.
