Veterans Resource Fair April 21 2023

Job Fair at Erie County PA Soldiers' and Sailors' Home: April 20

The Erie County PA Soldiers' and Sailors' Home will be holding a job fair on Thursday, April 20th from 1pm to 6pm at their facility located at 560 East Third St.  They are looking to hire registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, and nurse aid trainees.

PA DMVA Homes Host Weekly Walk-In Hiring Events

Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is offering walk-in interviews every Wednesday at five of their Veterans Homes throughout the commonwealth.  Dubbed "Walk-In Wednesdays," the hiring events provide the public a convenient way to explore employment opportunities and possible receive an on-the-spot job offer.  Hours vary per location.

VA Enrollment, Claims, and Information Fair

Event:  The Butler VA Health Care System is hosting an information, enrollment, and claims fair to educate, enroll, and assist Veterans in applying for VA benefits.  Staff from the Butler VA and Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) will be on hand to share information about VA programs and services, Veteran benefits, the PACT Act, and answer questions. Veterans interested in enrolling at the event should bring a copy of their DD-214.

Event:Outreach, Transition and Economic Development (OTED) will host a VBA/OTED – Virtual Pacific Veteran Outreach Symposium: Celebrating Asian American Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage (AANHPI) Month on Thursday, May 4, 2023. In recognition of Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, this symposium will celebrate AANHPI service in military, as well as Veteran contributions to our Nation. Guest speakers will educate and empower attendees about the benefits and services available to them and also highlight VA outreach efforts to bridge the gap between the VA and AANHPI Veterans, service members, family members, caregivers, and survivors. The symposium will also provide information on current and future VA benefits, to include filing a VA disability claim online, fraud prevention and awareness and the Sergeant First Class (SFC) Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act.

PAServes Greater Pittsburgh is the local branch of AmericaServes, the country’s first coordinated system of public, private, and non-profit organizations working together to serve Veterans, service members and their families.

PACT Act and Your VA Benefits

The PACT Act is a historic new law that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans who were exposed to toxic fumes and other hazards while fighting for our country. 

Family members or dependents of deceased Veterans may qualify for various VA benefits.

The VA is committed to ensuring all Veterans and their family members receive the benefits and care they have earned.

Next steps for Veterans and dependents:

  • Apply now for PACT Act benefits by filing a claim
  • If you have not yet enrolled in VA for health care, learn how to apply.

Pittsburgh VBA Regional Office Operating Status

The Pittsburgh VBA RO is open for services 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday. To schedule an appointment for in person or virtual services:

Veterans and stakeholders may now also utilize the new, online Visitor Engagement Reporting Application (VERA) self-service portal to schedule virtual or in-person appointments with your VA Regional Office.  You can use the camera on your smartphone to capture the QR code above to schedule an appointment.  

Veterans can continue to get information about benefits or file a claim by visiting www.va.gov.  Veterans are also encouraged to continue with their appointed Veterans Service Officers.
