For your awareness, the following message is being sent to Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients regarding a possible late payment of the Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA). We are sharing with you in case a beneficiary reaches out to you regarding the payment issue.
The Post-9/11 GI Bill MHA payment for the end of March may be delayed by approximately one business day, due to an unexpected systems issue. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recognizes the importance of the MHA and is working diligently to ensure MHA disbursements post as soon as possible. For those with direct deposit, there is a possibility that the MHA payment could post at financial institutions by late Friday (March 31) or Saturday (April 1). Hard copy checks will be distributed expeditiously.
VA apologizes for any inconvenience this payment delay may cause on personal finances. The attached letter may be used for sharing with banking institutions or creditors as necessary, to alleviate negative repercussions.
VA is aware and working on this matter as a top priority. Future updates will be shared as new information becomes available.
Sincerely,
Joseph Garcia, Executive Director
