Event Details: Outreach, Transition and Economic Development (OTED) will host a Virtual Rural Veterans Outreach Symposium on Thursday, January 19, 2023. This symposium will feature representatives from Veterans Benefits Administration, Veterans Health Administration and the Vet Center. The primary focus of this collaborative effort is to focus on outreach and initiatives impacting the Rural Veteran community and will inform Veterans, Service members, family members, caregivers, and survivors about valuable VA resources. The symposium will provide information on current and future VA benefits, to include filing a VA disability claim online, fraud prevention and awareness and the Sergeant First Class (SFC) Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act.
Audience: Veterans Nationwide in Rural/Remote Areas, Service members, Family Members, Caregivers, Survivors, VA Staff and Outreach Coordinators, Veteran Advocates, National Association of County Veteran Service Officers (NACVSO), National Association State Department of Veterans Affairs (NASDVA) and Veteran Service Organizations (VSO).

The PACT Act and Your VA Benefits
The PACT Act is a historic new law that expands VA health care and benefits for Veterans who were exposed to toxic fumes and other hazards while fighting for our country.
Family members or dependents of deceased Veterans may qualify for various VA benefits.

VA Launches New Life Insurance Program in January
On Jan. 1, 2023, the Department of Veterans Affairs will open enrollment for Veterans Affairs Life Insurance - the first new VA life insurance program for Veterans in more than 50 years - extending VALife access to millions of Veterans.

Pittsburgh VBA Regional Office Operating Status
The Pittsburgh VBA RO is open for services 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday. To schedule an appointment for in person or virtual services:
Veterans and stakeholders may now also utilize the new, online Visitor Engagement Reporting Application (VERA) self-service portal to schedule virtual or in-person appointments with your VA Regional Office. You can use the camera on your smartphone to capture the QR code above to schedule an appointment.
Veterans can continue to get information about benefits or file a claim by visiting www.va.gov. Veterans are also encouraged to continue with their appointed Veterans Service Officers.
