Dear School Certifying Officials,
We previously shared information regarding the new monthly enrollment verification requirement for students using their Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits and receiving Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) and/or kicker payments.
Currently, VA does not have a mobile phone number on file for some of your recently enrolled students. We understand that reaching out to them is time-consuming, but it will ensure these students continue to receive their housing payments. We also hope that your assistance now can reduce the need for further outreach on your part.
Please reach out to your students and encourage them to update their information through the Ask VA (AVA) system. If they don't already have a VA login account, they will need to set one up to use AVA:
Ask.VA.gov | Veteran Affairs.
This will ensure that they receive the latest email updates on monthly enrollment verification and are able to opt-in to enrollment verification by text message. Their contact information for the GI Bill is separate from their contact information on VA.gov or in other VA systems.
