Dear VET TEC Student,
IMPORTANT UPDATE: INTRODUCING IBM SKILLSBUILD TO VET TEC STUDENTS:
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and IBM are excited to share a new opportunity for Veteran Employment Through Technology Education Courses (VET TEC) students through IBM SkillsBuild. VA and IBM have a shared goal to connect students with employment opportunities, resources, people, and organizations willing to invest in their growth and take advantage of their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
What is SkillsBuild?
IBM SkillsBuild is a free online learning platform that provides adult learners the opportunity to learn IT skills and provides bridges to current employment opportunities. In collaboration with VA, IBM created a customized learning plan for veterans eligible for VET TEC training that includes a skills assessment and an option to complete one digital credential.
What does this mean for you?
As a VET TEC participant, you can get started right away and begin earning digital credentials to boost your qualifications for employment in the high-technology industry. Get started, sign up here, complete your profile, and then click on the spotlight that says "VET TEC Training" on the SkillsBuild home page. For support in setting up your profile, please review IBM's step-by-by-step setup guide.
Where can I find help?
If you have any questions about SkillsBuild, please send an email to vettecpartner@va.gov.
Respectfully,
Education Service
