Each month, the VA Office of Inspector General publishes highlights of our investigative work, congressional testimony, and oversight reports. In January 2025, the VA OIG stopped millions of dollars of healthcare and benefits fraud, conducted a follow-up healthcare inspection regarding the mistreatment of a resident at a community living center, and opened a hotline case based on allegations that a veteran stole personally identifiable information of a neighbor’s child and used that information to fraudulently claim the child as a dependent for the past 10 years.
