While deployed during the Gulf War, U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Kevin Jackson was involved in a horrific accident which resulted in the permanent loss of his vision. But with the support from U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Blind Rehabilitation, Mr. Jackson is thriving.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Blind Rehabilitation Program is dedicated to empowering Veterans with visual impairments. Through a comprehensive range of services, including mobility training, adaptive technology, and independent living skills, the program helps participants regain confidence and independence.
Specialized rehabilitation centers and outpatient services provide personalized care, addressing each individual's unique needs. The program also offers support for family members, ensuring a holistic approach to rehabilitation. Veterans as a population tend to be at a higher risk of fraud and cyberattacks than the average person. In addition, as the nation’s largest integrated health system and benefits provider for millions of Veterans, their families, caregivers, and providers, VA is a large target for cybercriminals, who are getting smarter and more sophisticated every year.
