Greetings from the VA’s Center for Minority Veterans.

Please mark April 26-28, 2022, on your calendar for a unique Virginia Veteran Engagement Event.

I want to provide you an update on some of the work the VA’s Center for Minority Veterans (CMV) is doing with our colleagues at VA’s Veterans Experience Office.

First, I wish to take a moment to introduce myself and the CMV. I, James Albino, was sworn in to lead the CMV as its Director in July 2021. I am thrilled to answer the call to serve and re-join the VA in support of our nations Veterans. I am also very proud to work alongside a team of dedicated and committed staff. The CMV is a model for inter- and intra-agency cooperation and the staff ensures that all Veterans receive equitable service without regard to race, origin, or ethnicity. Dignity and an acceptable quality of life are the products we seek to deliver to ALL Veterans.

With respect to the CMV and Veterans Experience Office partnership, I wanted to share with you a few important points:

  • CMV is encouraging all of Virginia’s minority Veterans, family members, and caregivers to sign up for the upcoming Veterans Experience Action Center (VEAC) April 26th through April 28th to join VA, state and community partners virtually to get the benefits and services you’ve earned.
  • You must register to participate in this event. Registration will begin the week of March 28. At the time of your appointment, a Veteran Service Officer will call you—via telephone—to kick off your appointment.
  • The VEAC is a unique, personalized one-on-one assistance model that links Veterans and their families with Veteran Service Organizations, VA subject matter experts, and community service providers to assist with access, engagement, and taking action to resolve an individual’s matters in real time.
  • At the VEAC, all Virginia based VA administrations: healthcare, benefits, and national cemeteries, along with Virginia’s community partners, will be available to assist you during this virtual event.

Virginia’s Veterans, family members, and caregivers can learn more about the upcoming event by visiting the VEAC website.

A registration link will be available the week of March 28, 2022. Sign up to receive a reminder once the registration link is available.

Visit the CMV website to learn more about us, call us at 202-461-6191, or email us at vacocenterforminorit@va.gov.
