SECVA Pledges to improve and expand VA support to better meet all caregivers’ needs

McDonough cited the example of Jack and Jean King. Jack, a Vietnam Veteran, recently received a non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 4 diagnosis. Jean left her medical career to support and care for her husband as his caregiver. She had to learn quickly about VA’s programs. Receiving help from a VA Caregiver Support Program social worker, Jean was grateful for the assistance.

New Chief Veterans Experience Officer: VA is building a world class customer experience

"VA has to build a world class customer experience. We know this because Veterans today look much different than those of my grandfather’s generation. And the Veterans I served alongside in Iraq as a Marine Corps non-commissioned officer and those I worked with in my home state of Texas come from diverse backgrounds, families, and have unique needs." - John Boerstler, VA Chief Veteran Experience Officer
