SECVA: Rural Veterans Not Receiving Vaccine is a Concern

Continuing to get COVID-19 vaccinations for Veterans – especially those in rural and highly rural areas – is a high priority, VA Secretary Denis McDonough told reporters Feb. 23.

More than 1 million Veterans have at least one vaccine and 400,000 received both doses. McDonough said Veterans in rural and highly rural communities not receiving the vaccine is a concern. About 4.7 million Veterans live in rural and highly rural areas. Of those, about 2.7 million use VA health care.

Secretary orders review of VA’s transgender policies

Six Veteran organizations are coming together to form the Veterans Coalition for Vaccination. Any Veteran – anywhere in the U.S. – can register or volunteer with the VCV to help get the vaccine distributed in their very own communities.
