Part of VA’s Welcome Kit, the Survivors quick start guide begins with a step by step checklist for preparing, applying for, and following up on the available benefits. The guide also helps families identify VA Survivor benefits and services they may be eligible for.

VA shares electronic health records

VA shares electronic health records

Previously, VA required you to provide written authorization for VA to release your electronic health information to your community care provider. Starting in January, 2020 - VA will automatically share your health information with your community provider, requiring no action on your part. 

You can opt out of of sharing automatically if you wish. THERE IS NO SEPTEMBER 30TH DEADLINE TO OPT OUT.

Free flu shots for Veterans at your local Walgreens

Flu Shots

VA and Walgreens are national partners, providing no-cost flu shots to enrolled Veterans of the VA health care system. Now through March 31, 2020, simply go to any Walgreens pharmacy and show your Veterans Health Identification Card and another form of photo ID.

VA strengthens Caregiver Support Program

Caregivers

VA has announced improvements to the Caregiver Support Program and a timeline for expanding the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers. VA is expanding the program in accordance with the VA MISSION Act of 2018. The first phase of the program expansion will occur once the VA Secretary has certified that VA’s new caregiver information technology system is fully implemented, which could be as early as the Summer of 2020.
