Fourth of July brings to mind the smell of burgers and hot dogs on the grill and celebratory fireworks in the night sky, but for some Veterans, typical Independence Day celebrations trigger uneasiness and discomfort. We’ve gathered a few pointers to help make this 4th of July enjoyable for all — especially those who have served our great Nation. What was your most memorable Independence Day?

Urgent care is one of the new benefits offered as part of the VA MISSION Act that gives Veterans greater choice in their health care. The benefit is offered in addition to the opportunity to receive care from a VA provider, as VA also offers same-day services.

20% Veteran Discount at Walgreens for July 4
To honor their service and sacrifices, Walgreens is offering a Fourth of July 20 percent discount to all Veterans, active duty military personnel and their immediate family members.

VA's Stay Quit Coach Mobile App is designed to provide readily available support for adults who are already in treatment to quit smoking, and helps them stay quit even after treatment ends.
The app guides you in creating a tailored plan that takes into account your personal reasons for quitting. It provides information about smoking and quitting, interactive tools to help users cope with urges to smoke, and motivational messages and support contacts to help you stay smoke-free.

Advance Care Planning is the process of clarifying your values and your preferences for future health care, and identifying who you would like to speak for you if you are no longer able to make decisions for yourself.
VA has useful information about Advance Directives, choosing a Health Care Agent, and how to have a conversation about Advance Care Planning with your loved ones, regardless of age or health status.
