Women Veterans: Receive care through all stages of your life

Receive the care you need with VA health care. Get Started

Each March, we celebrate Women’s History Month to honor the extraordinary achievements of women. Meeting the needs of women Veterans through every stage of their lives is a priority for VA.

When it comes to health care, each VA medical center has designated women’s health primary care providers. Women Veterans can receive primary care, mental health services and woman-specific care such as gynecological care. VA has a Maternity Care Coordinator at every medical center and provides maternity care off-site in the community.

Here are additional services you may not be aware of:

  1. Cervical and breast cancer screens.
  2. Limited fertility services and prenatal care, plus newborn care for seven days.
  3. Maternity care including breast pumps and nursing bras.
  4. Whole health services such as yoga and acupuncture.
  5. Prosthetics including wigs and post-mastectomy bras.
  6. Telehealth and tele-gynecology for women Veterans living in underserved areas.
  7. Recreational therapies.
