VA to showcase health
care innovation at annual VHA Innovation Experience event
WHAT: The VHA Innovation:
Experience (I:E) is a
two-day event that showcases innovative practices, new software applications and
other ideas by U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) employees. The event, which
is open to the news media, will include Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Innovation
Demo Day and curated VHA I:E Talks. The event will feature presentations on VA
innovations related to critical areas, such as:
Medication management
Prosthetic limb procurement
Opioid programs
Access
Storytelling and sharing
Therapeutic design for dementia patients
Sleep apnea treatments.
WHEN AND WHERE: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 29 and 30 at
the National Press Club, 529 14th St. NW, 13th floor,
Washington, D.C. 20045.
WHO: The following
individuals are scheduled to speak at the Innovation Demo Day: VA Chief of
Staff Pamela Powers; Dr. Carolyn
Clancy, deputy under secretary for Health for Discovery, Education and
Affiliate Networks, VHA; John “Wolf” Wagner, principal deputy assistant secretary,
for VA’s Office of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs; Dr. Toby Cosgrove,
former CEO of the Cleveland Clinic, executive adviser, Google Cloud Healthcare
and Life Sciences; 100 innovators with concepts from VA facilities and
offices nationwide; 50 panelists representing the public and private sector of the
health care industry, who will make
presentations.

forefront innovations that will advance health care and services for Veterans.
VHA is America’s largest integrated health care system, providing care at more
than 1,000 health care facilities, including 172 medical centers and 1,062
outpatient sites of care of varying complexity (VHA outpatient clinics),
serving 9 million enrolled Veterans each year.
