Lotus, California – The Wild and Scenic Main Salmon River in Idaho, AKA ‘The River of No Return:’ carves through the heart of Idaho Wilderness and forms the second deepest canyon in the US. The Main Salmon River Rafting Trips boasts broad sandy beaches, Class II-IV whitewater, wildlife, canyon walls, hot springs, and history all come together to make this an outstanding river trip experience. The full wilderness run encompasses 80+ miles of river and drops 1200’ in elevation.
Minneapolis, Minnesota – In conjunction with the 100th National Convention, The American Legion and IVMF will host the Celebrating Women on the Rise: Women-Owned Small Business Conference on August 24, 2018. The Conference will feature presentations, panel discussions and breakout sessions concerning entrepreneurship, growth opportunities and celebrate women in the military community who have chosen the entrepreneurship path.
Washington, District of Columbia – Please join us for a special screening of Breaking the Silence: an Oral History of Oregon's LGBTQ Veterans and Servicemembers in our nation's capital. Presented Together in Partnership by the Human Rights Campaign, the D.C. Mayor's Office of Veterans Affairs, and the D.C. Metropolitan Police.
Loveland, Colorado – Warriors Write! serves female veterans in Colorado with a blend of creativity, wellness, and recreational activities. Participants will work with published authors from Northern Colorado to learn to put their thoughts and memories to paper and turn struggle to strength. Please join us in July -- your story is waiting to be told! The 2018 Class of Warriors Write! is limited to 16 female Veterans. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, this program is offered at no charge! Register by June 11.
Spruce Creek, Pennsylvania – For 2018, CfR will be holding a regional retreat for military women—veteran or active duty—who have had a breast cancer diagnosis. Medical and psychosocial sessions support women navigating issues related to their military and cancer experience, such as treatment options, side effects, PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma (MST), and depression. Fly fishing serves as an outlet for coping with the challenges of these topics, and provides a simple, authentic connection with nature. The July 13-15 retreat in Spruce Creek, PA, will serve military women from PA and adjacent states (DE, MD, NJ, NY, OH, VA, WV).
Keizer, Oregon – Tribute to thank, honor, and salute women in the Armed Forces, past and present. Gates open at 5:00, Ceremony at 5:45, game begins 6:35. Fireworks follow the game.
Boston, Massachusetts – Calling all Veterans interested in learning web development. Vetsintech is excited to offer FREE Front End Web Development training exclusively for Veterans – sponsored by DraftKings! This is a 10-week course ($5,000 value) with classes every Monday and Wednesday evening between 11 June and 20 August (no class 4th of July of course) 6:30-9:30 PM. Some web familiarization helpful, but not required. You will learn the basics of programming by building visual and interactive components of a website. More specifically you will get hands on experience creating the structural foundation (HTML), styling (CSS), and inserting logic to control the behavior (JavaScript) of your own website.
