VA researcher Rory A. Cooper, Ph.D, founder and director of the Human Engineering Research Laboratories, received a Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., Thursday.
VA plans to redesign the Benefits Delivery at Discharge program to
enable service members to receive disability benefit decisions the day
after their discharge. The redesigned program will go into effect
October 1.
Suicide is a public health crisis and VA is launching a national effort to reduce suicide by identifying the warning signs, pointing people to the best resources, and showing how everyone can help.
Ronald served during World War II as a petty officer third class from Oct. 1943 through Oct. 1945.
Ronald was born in Princeton, Indiana, in 1906 and was drafted into
the military when he was 38 years old. Leaving his wife behind to serve
his country, Ronald completed basic training at Camp Perry, Virginia,
before joining the 130th Seabee Battalion.
