Reach your career goals after a service-connected disability

VA: Get the support you need

Natasha, an Army Veteran with a service-connected disability, wanted to rejoin the civilian workforce as a teacher. She knew that meant going back to school, but she was having trouble getting started.

Then she learned about VA’s Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) program. VR&E assists Veterans and service members who have an established employment handicap resulting from a service-connected disability. The program offers one-on-one employment counseling with an advocate.

Natasha found that having somebody to help coordinate her employment goals made a huge difference. “Voc Rehab counselors are there to push you, encourage you and help you as you navigate through your educational experience,” she says.

She used VR&E throughout her entire training program and embraced the opportunity to obtain suitable employment.

“I wouldn't change anything about my experience,” says Natasha. “I think because of it, I have grown into this person that I am and Voc Rehab had a lot to do with that.”
