On Tuesday, Feb. 14, Dr. David J. Shulkin was sworn in as the secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Secretary Shulkin has a message for his staff and the Veterans he serves.

Helping homeless Veterans does not end with housing

When Veterans have a place to call home, they are better able to benefit from other supportive services they need — such as medical care, mental health support and employment services.

VA volunteers help Veterans dress for success with suit giveaway

“This wasn’t just a suit give away, but an opportunity to change a Veteran’s life. When you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good anything is possible.”

VETERAN OF THE WEEK

This week we honor Army Veteran Carmen Contreras Bozak.

Carmen was the first Puerto Rican woman to join the Women’s Army Corps, where she served as interpreter. She spoke five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French.
