READOUT: Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent’s Meeting with Iraq Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein

WASHINGTON— Today, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein. Secretary Bessent discussed the United States’ expectations for Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s reforms. The Secretary and Foreign Minister had a frank discussion on a range of issues including Shiite pilgrimages to Najaf, U.S. efforts to stop the Iranian regime’s campaign of terror through Operation Economic Outcast, and Iraq’s progress in demilitarizing Iranian militias.
