Each year, thousands of Veterans across the United States pass away without a next of kin or family member available to claim their remains. When this happens, communities, Veteran organizations, and public servants often step forward to ensure these men and women are honored for their service.
That commitment was recently demonstrated during a committal service at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery, where community members gathered to honor U.S. Army Specialist, Jonathan Randolph Boyce. Representatives from the South Carolina Department of Veterans' Affairs were present alongside local partners to ensure the Veteran received the recognition and military honors he earned.
Read the full article to learn more about SPC Boyce’s final escort and the broader effort to ensure unclaimed Veterans receive the respect they deserve.
