The State of South Carolina and the South Carolina Department of Veterans' Affairs sends its heartfelt condolences to the family of COL(Ret.) Gene ‘Stoney’ Wages. Wages, a former South Carolina Director of Veteran Services under Governors Beasley and Hodges passed away on 1 July 2025.
Wages was a recipient of the Order of the Palmetto, the Order of the Silver Crescent in South Carolina. He was a life member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and the National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs (former past president), and various other civic organizations. Memorials for Wages will be held here in South Carolina.
