HAPPENING TODAY: Community leaders from across the state are excited to announce the launch of MCCYN-PLUS, a new childcare fee assistance program for South Carolina's military families. South Carolina is now the 15th state participating in MCCYN-PLUS!
DSS State Director Michael Leach will join Governor Henry McMaster, South Carolina Department of Veterans' Affairs Secretary Todd B. McCaffrey, City of Sumter, South Carolina Mayor David Merchant, Shaw Air Force Base 20th Fighter Wing Commander Col. Kevin Hicok, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in Sumter, SC for a press conference focusing on the launch of the program.
The Town of Port Royal will hold a showcase to announce the Living Shoreline Program. This initiative is made possible through a grant by SCDVA.
Located within Port Royal Sound, near Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island (MCRDPI), the Living Shoreline Program aims to address coastal erosion and an increased efficacy of a living shoreline.
The community is encouraged to attend to learn more about coastal sustainability efforts.

In honor of over 300 Gamecocks who gave the ultimate sacrifice, the USC Veterans Alumni Council would like to invite students, partners, and friends to attend the Memorial Plaque unveiling at Williams Brice Stadium.
The event will be held on Wednesday, August 7th at 4 p.m.

SCDVA recently visited Camp Cole to support military families who have children with illnesses, disabilities, and life challenges through their Camp STARS program.
Located in Eastover, Camp Cole provides a safe place with unique experiences for individuals who might not typically be able to attend camp.
Helping to make summer memories for our state's little heroes, SCDVA and Camp Cole hope to expand the program to military families across South Carolina.
