This week, SCDVA is proud to recognize Lt. Col. Kelvin Ashe as our #VeteranoftheWeek! Ashe started his law enforcement career in the U.S. Army then went on to becoming the FIRST lieutenant colonel in the history of the Richland County Sheriff's Department!

SCDVA has partnered with Combined Arms to LAUNCH the SC Veteran Coalition! This coalition is comprised of SCDVA leaders, Veteran Service Organizations and County Veterans Affairs' Officers joining together to help improve care, and connect Veterans, Veteran Spouses, and their family members to resources in the state of South Carolina.
SCDVA Secretary Will Grimsley was joined by Charlie Hall with the Upstate Veterans Alliance Network, Mark Holyfield with Vantage Point Foundation, along with other Veteran service organization team members this week for a LIVE press event to formally launch the statewide initiative.

SUCCESS at the Fort Jackson MWR Hiring Event, hosted at SCDVA Headquarters. More than 40 job seekers were in attendance, with six on the spot hires, AND 15 qualified pending job offers. The HR Manager at Fort Jackson MWR stated "this event produced the most turnout and qualified candidates" than in the previous year!
SCDVA was honored to partner with MWR in this hiring event and we look forward to a growing partnership to continue the mission of reducing the Veteran unemployment rate in the Palmetto State.

The Palmetto Pathfinder Program is a South Carolina Veteran peer-support program that provides personal support for transitioning Veterans by connecting them to relevant resources and services in their community, assisting them in accomplishing their personal and professional goals, and thriving after military service.
