Trademarks breaks record in production
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) reached a new Trademark production milestone in March 2026 while filings continue to climb.
Trademark examining attorneys processed 103,730 first action classes in March. That is the first time Trademarks has exceeded 100,000 in a single month.
Within the same period, the USPTO received 83,577 new application classes. March ranked as the fifth highest filing month on record and the highest since April 2021.
Even with this increase in filings, Trademarks reduced its inventory by more than 20,000 classes in March.
Filings continue to trend upward overall. Through the midyear point of fiscal year 2026, the USPTO received 431,734 classes, a 7% increase compared to 403,353 classes during the same period in fiscal year 2025.
These results reflect sustained progress in meeting rising demand and keeping applications moving forward. This underscores the USPTO's commitment as America’s Branding Agency to serving our customers and supporting a strong, reliable trademark system for our nation!
