Agents and attorneys: Learn to think like a patent examiner
 If you are a USPTO-registered patent attorney or agent, it helps to think like a patent examiner. Get a better understanding of how examiners make decisions by attending the Stakeholder Training on Examination Practice and Procedure (STEPP) virtual agent/attorney four-day course from April 22-25, from noon to 4:15 p.m. ET.
Days two, three, and four build upon the previous day's lessons.

Day one focuses on the role of an examiner and steps an examiner takes when reading an application for the first time.

Day two uses the information gathered during day one to plan and conduct a search, emphasizing relevant legal statutes.
- Day three builds upon day two, applying relevant statutes about mapping prior art to the sample claims.

Day four finishes the course by discussing mapping art to claims and writing an office action.
To attend, you must submit an interest form and meet certain criteria. Interest forms are being accepted until April 15 or until registration is full.
