Trademark Manual of Examining Procedure has been updated

The November 2024 version of the Trademark Manual of Examining Procedure (TMEP) is now available on the USPTO website. This update incorporates relevant precedential decisions issued since the May 2024 TMEP revision and before August 31, 2024. It also revises language in the TMEP to make it gender neutral and replaces references to the Trademark Electronic Application System, the Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals, TEAS, and ESTTA with generic wording.

The TMEP is the primary resource for information about the trademark examination process. This update furthers our goal of promoting transparency regarding our policies and procedures, and ensures our examining attorneys and customers have access to the most current information on those policies and procedures.
