Deadline for stakeholder comments on future strategies in anticounterfeiting and antipiracy extended to September 25
The deadline for submitting comments in response to the United States Patent and Trademark Office's (USPTO) May 25 request for comments on effective anticounterfeiting and antipiracy strategies has been extended to September 25, 2023. Full details will be available in an upcoming Federal Register Notice to be published next week.
The USPTO seeks information from interested parties regarding their observations and insights into the future of anticounterfeiting and antipiracy strategies. In particular, the USPTO is looking for information from a wide variety of stakeholders—including consumers, intellectual property rights holders, online marketplaces and platforms, physical marketplaces, parties who provide goods to the public, and other private sector stakeholders—on the evolution of counterfeiting and piracy in recent years, and ways to identify and develop future anticounterfeiting and antipiracy strategies.
To facilitate further discussion among members of the public regarding the future of anticounterfeiting and antipiracy, the USPTO will also host a public roundtable on this topic in Alexandria, Virginia, on October 3, 2023.
To learn more about the request for comments and to register for the October 3 public roundtable, visit the USPTO website. The September 1 deadline to submit a request to be a panelist at the October roundtable remains unchanged.
