October 3: Roundtable on future strategies in anticounterfeiting and antipiracy
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is hosting an important public roundtable to obtain insights from businesses, intellectual property rights holders, and other stakeholders regarding anticounterfeiting and antipiracy trends and strategies. Register now to join.
Topics of discussion will include:
- The recent evolution and growth in counterfeiting and piracy
- The types of harms that have come from the sale of counterfeited and pirated products
- Successful collaborative efforts between public and private entities to combat the sale of counterfeited and pirated products
- Effective technological solutions being used to stem the flow of counterfeited and pirated products into the marketplace
- The future of anticounterfeiting and antipiracy strategies
“Businesses and creators rely on the protection of their intellectual property to fuel our economy through jobs and the commercialization of their products,” said Kathi Vidal, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO. “Too many counterfeit and pirated products come into this country every day, threatening not only American jobs and our economic prosperity but the health and safety of American consumers. By working together, we can stem the flow of these illicit goods and help consumers make informed decisions about the products they purchase.”
This program will be held Tuesday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET online and in person at USPTO headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. It is open to the public, and there is no charge to attend. However, advance registration is required for online and in-person attendance.
Requests to be a panelist on this program (separate from registering to attend or view the program) should be sent to FutureStrategies@uspto.gov. Panelists may participate either in-person or remotely. The deadline for receipt of a request to be a panelist is September 1.
