The USPTO is extending the comment period on initiatives to expand opportunities to practice before the USPTO

On October 18, 2022, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) published two Federal Register Notices titled Expanding Opportunities to Appear before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and Expanding Admission Criteria for Registration to Practice in Patent Cases before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  

The USPTO is extending the comment period, which was originally set to end on January 17, 2023, until January 31, 2023. An extension notice will publish in the Federal Register soon. The extension ensures that all stakeholders have sufficient opportunity to submit comments on the proposal.
