Delayed Mail Reporting in the Great Lakes Area
The U.S. Postal Service considers mail to be delayed when it is not processed in time to meet the established delivery day. Mail processing facilities are required to complete daily mail counts and self-report on-hand mail, delayed mail, late-arriving mail, and mail processed after the cut-off time. Tort Tort Claims Management – Western Area
In fiscal year (FY) 2017, the Postal Service made more than 12,000 tort claim payments totaling almost $80 million. The Western Area and its 12 districts paid $12.8 million for about 3,500 tort claims in FYs 2016 and 2017. A recent OIG audit assesses the effectiveness of controls over paid tort claims in the Western Area. Read our findings and recommendations in the full audit report: https://go.usa.gov/xQPrw
