Today the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) issued a memorandum titled, "Building the AI Workforce of the Future" regarding the forthcoming suite of Federal talent programs listed below to rapidly address critical workforce needs.
1. U.S. Tech Force
2. Project Management and Data Science Fellows
3. “Semester of Service” Student Volunteer Service Program
4. Fostering the Future
5. Other Early Career Recruitment Initiatives
These programs will provide agencies with access to top-quality talent in technology, cybersecurity, AI, data science, and project management to deliver the most skilled technology workforce in the history of the U.S. government and help win the global race for AI dominance.
Agency Points of Contact Due to OPM by Monday, December 22, 2025
OPM requests that agencies please provide points of contact (POC) for the U.S. Tech Force, Project Management Fellows, Data Science Fellows, Semester of Service, and Fostering the Future to OPM at AIworkforce@opm.gov by Monday, December 22, 2025.
Additionally, OPM requests that agencies please designate one non-career appointee along with one member of their Agency Talent Team to lead early career recruitment efforts, and provide those POCs to OPM at AIworkforce@opm.gov by Monday, December 22, 2025.
