OPM Reduction in Force Resources & Templates Available Online

Good afternoon,

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has updated the Reductions in Force (RIF) resources and templates listed below, which are also posted on the OPM website.  Furthermore, reminder that registration remains open for the OPM RIF Learning Series being held this and next week.

Templates

• RIF Sample Notices (March 2025) - These are provided as a resource and tool for agencies.  Agencies have discretion to modify further and should consult with counsel before using/finalizing.
• Requesting use of a Competitive Area to be in Effect Less Than 90 days Prior to the Effective Date of a Reduction In Force (RIF) (March 2025)
• Requesting a Reduction in Force (RIF) Notice to Employee Period of less than 60 days (March 2025)
