Think Cultural Health: New Training Opportunity for Emergency Personnel
Looking for a new training opportunity? The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH) now offers a free, accredited e-learning program for emergency personnel and health professionals. The Cultural Competency Program for Disaster and Emergency Management offers free continuing education credits and a flexible, self-paced learning experience. The program aims to equip professionals with essential skills to deliver equitable, respectful, patient-centered disaster and emergency mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. MultiPlan's Rural Health Grant
Grant from MultiPlan Corporation to help healthcare providers in rural areas introduce or expand services, education, screenings and other programs aimed at improving the health of the people in their communities. The grant is available to eligible hospitals, rural health clinics, and federally qualified health centers participating in a MultiPlan provider network. Deadline is December 15.
Minnesota Rural Hospital Capital Improvement Grant Program
Grant from the Minnesota Department of Health Office of Rural Health and Primary Care to assist small rural hospitals (50 or fewer beds) with funding for projects to update, modernize, remodel, or replace aging hospital facilities and equipment necessary to maintain the operations of a hospital. Deadline is December 20.
Proposal Development Award
Grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) Foundation provides support for non-profits with funding to contract a grant writer to create and submit health-related grants and apply to the BCBSM Foundation, Michigan Health Endowment Fund, Health Resources and Services Administration, and other local community foundations and organizations. This issue brief from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality explores challenges affecting diagnostic excellence in rural healthcare settings, emphasizing the need to address these impediments, and proposes three actionable strategies to overcome barriers to delivering high-quality diagnostic care in these areas.

National Diabetes Prevention Program Lifestyle Change Programs: Engaging Advanced Practice Providers in Referrals
Lifestyle Change Programs (LCPs) face challenges in engaging health care providers in referrals. CDC funded a project to explore Advanced Practice Providers, or APPs (i.e., nurse practitioners, physician assistants), as a potentially effective referral source. The project conducted research and materials testing with APPs and LCP recruitment staff. Five LCPs then used the materials to plan and conduct outreach with APPs in a demonstration project. The final suite of materials and tools included here reflects the findings and lessons learned from the demonstration project.

Report: Late Medicaid Enrollment During Pregnancy Increases Risk of Mortality
This report from Elevance Health examines the risk of all-cause maternal mortality and infant mortality, based on trimester of enrollment in a managed care plan. Late enrollment may delay prenatal care, therefore missing opportunities to identify and manage complications. To achieve timely Medicaid enrollment, states can leverage presumptive eligibility, enhance public awareness of Medicaid enrollment policies, and expedite Medicaid managed care enrollment.

Minnesota Inclusive LTSS for LGBTQ Seniors
This study, sponsored by the University of Minnesota in collaboration with the National Institute on Aging, is designed to help improve the care of sexual and gender minority (SGM) with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia in long-term services and supports (LTSS) by training the state's LTSS workforce in SGM culturally responsive care. This study will take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Metabolism-Informed Care to Aid Alaska Native People to Quit Smoking
This study, sponsored by the Southcentral Foundation in collaboration with the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, will refine and pilot an intervention using the nicotine metabolite ratio to inform the selection of pharmacologic treatment to increase smoking abstinence among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) people. This study will take place in Anchorage, Alaska.

Health Equity and Community Medicine Fellowship
The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix Health Equity and Community Medicine Fellowship is a 12-month clinical program for primary care physicians developing expertise caring for people who have been made vulnerable by social and structural determinants of health. The program includes clinical work at a Federally Qualified Health Center, protected funded research time focused on health equity and justice, learning from College of Medicine – Phoenix medical students and family medicine residents, and ample other clinical and teaching opportunities in the community.
