OMH Knowledge Center Acquisitions: October 2024  

The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) maintains an extensive collection of documents and journal articles specifically related to minority health. The OMH online library catalog provides access to one of the nation’s largest repositories of information dedicated to the health of minority populations within the United States and its territories. The collection includes more than 80,000 articles, documents, books, journals, audiovisual materials, and catalogued organizations related to the health status of racial and ethnic minority populations. This month, the OMH Knowledge Center added 405 resources to the online library catalog. Topics include:

• The physical and emotional effects of diabetes within Hispanic populations.
• Cultural connection, mental health and well-being among American Indian and Alaska Native adolescents.
• Health disparities and risk factors related to food insecurity.

2024 Kids Count Data Book: State Trends in Child Well-Being

This annual publication from The Annie E. Casey Foundation tracks the status of children in the United States on a state-by-state and national level. It measures the economic, educational, health, and family and community well-being of children using 16 key indicators. The key indicators include rates of childhood poverty, children and adolescents not in school, reading and math proficiency, low birth weight, teenage pregnancy, and more.
