“Improved Treatments for Children with Sickle Cell Disease” Webinar

SCD Webinar Graphic

The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) will host a webinar with our grant recipient, New York City Health + Hospitals located in Jamaica, New York, about their work to help improve the quality of life for children with sickle cell disease (SCD).

SCD disproportionately affects African Americans, and although hydroxyurea is effective in reducing pain encounters and hospitalizations, too few children are receiving this treatment. The convening will be an opportunity to hear from our recipient about their efforts to increase hydroxyurea prescription rates.
