July 21 is Zero HIV Stigma Day
HIV stigma refers to irrational or negative attitudes, behaviors, and judgments towards people living with or at risk of HIV. HIV stigma influences people’s perceptions and beliefs, leading to discrimination. Use the tools and resources from the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care to help raise awareness about HIV stigma and learn about ways to help stop it.

Join the HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) and the Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy for a webinar on Breaking Barriers: Innovations to Reduce HIV Stigma. Phase 3 winners from the Innovative Community Engagement Strategies to Reduce HIV-related Stigma and Disparities Challenge will discuss their approaches, outcomes, lessons learned, sustainability plans, and how others can adopt similar strategies to better serve their communities. Mobile Payments Solution for SNAP Authorized Framers
Cooperative agreement from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service to enable Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)-authorized direct marketing farmers and farmers’ markets, as necessary, to determine whether adding SNAP to their business model has a positive cost-benefit value, and to provide SNAP recipients with greater access to direct marketing farmers operating at physical farmers’ markets locations and via other direct marketing avenues (e.g., roadside stands, pick-your-own). Deadline is August 15.
The Community Giving Fund
Grants from the AIDS Foundation Chicago to provide critical funding to organizations working to advance community-driven efforts to end the epidemics in HIV and homelessness in Illinois. Deadline is October 15.

Addressing HIV in Highest Risk Sexual and Gender Minorities
Grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to support epidemiologic, intervention, and implementation research that incorporates attention to HIV as a syndemic including comorbidities such as sexually transmitted infections, Hepatitis C, and psychiatric disorder. Deadline is August 14.
Ending the Epidemic: New Models of Integrated HIV/AIDS, Addiction, and Primary Care Services
Grant from the NIH to support the testing of enhanced models of care that optimally integrate HIV, addiction, and primary care services. Deadline is August 20.

e-HERO: Ending the HIV Epidemic in Rural
This study, sponsored by Northern Arizona University in collaboration with NIMHD, aims to increase HIV and syphilis testing and linkage to care, increase condom use, and promote PrEP uptake among sexual minority men and American Indian men in rural Oklahoma, a state that is an Ending the HIV Epidemic priority state. This study will take place in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Persuasive Health Communication Intervention for HIV/Hepatitis C
This study, sponsored by the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in collaboration with the National Institute on Drug Abuse, will conduct a randomized, controlled trial at emergency departments within the Mount Sinai Health System to compare the efficacy of the persuasive health communication intervention when delivered by a video vs. an HIV/Hepatitis C counselor. This study will take place in New York, New York.

Rural Community Health Scholars
The Rural Community Health Scholars program through West Virginia University is a two-year program offered to 75 of West Virginia’s top health professions students from institutions across the state. This program aims to provide supplemental and interprofessional educational experiences to those interested in practicing in rural or underserved communities. Health professionals across the following areas can apply: community health workers, nutrition/dietetics, physician assistants, and more. Deadline for application is August 15.
