Closing Tomorrow: Development of Public Health Vaccine and Prevention Educational Campaigns Involving Community Health Workers
The HHS Office of Minority Health has recently released a Request for Information (RFI) looking for insights from community health workers (CHWs). Please respond to and/or share this new opportunity to help OMH better understand the needs of the populations it serves.
Through this RFI, OMH seeks to obtain information from CHWs, recipients of CHW services, and organizations representing and/or communities using CHWs to guide the development of an educational campaign focused on increasing the cultural and linguistic competency efforts related to public health vaccines (e.g., influenza and COVID) and other prevention strategies.
Closing Date is July 11, 2024.

Mechanistic Characterization of Uterine Pain
This study, sponsored by the NorthShore University HealthSystem in collaboration with the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), aims to understand how NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) relieve menstrual pain and how they fail to do so. This study will take place in Evanston, Illinois.
Testing Effects of Melatonin on Uterine Contractions in Women
This study, sponsored by the Brigham and Women's Hospital in collaboration with NICHD, will test a causal link between circulating melatonin levels and uterine contractions in full-term pregnant women by manipulating melatonin levels during different times of the day. This study will take place in Boston, Massachusetts.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Health Equity in Diabetes Fellowship
The fellow will receive training from the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP) Division of Diabetes Translation (DDT) Associate Director of Health Equity (ADHE). This training will include collaborating with the division’s ADHE and Health Equity Action Team to develop and implement and Health Equity Action Plan and research projects that inform the development of effective strategies and interventions to reduce disparities in diabetes to improve health outcomes and reduce diabetes related complications among disproportionately affected populations.
