May 12–18 is National Prevention Week
The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) is joining the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to celebrate National Prevention Week 2024! National Prevention Week is a national public education platform sponsored by SAMHSA that showcases the work of communities and organizations across the country dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of substance misuse prevention and positive mental health. May 19 is National Asian and Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
HIV stigma is negative attitudes and beliefs about people with HIV. It is the prejudice that comes with labeling an individual as part of a group that is believed to be socially unacceptable. National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is a day devoted to eliminating HIV stigma in Asian and Pacific Islander communities.

Closing Soon: Development of a Universal Symbol for Language Assistance Services in Health Settings RFI
OMH is looking for insights from the public focused on increasing language access for individuals and communities with limited English proficiency (LEP). Please respond to and/or share this new opportunity to help OMH better understand the needs of the populations it serves.
Through this RFI, OMH seeks to obtain information from the public focused on language access, including organizations representing and/or serving communities with LEP, to guide the development and implementation of a symbol informing people about the availability of language assistance services in health settings, including for health services, programs, and/or products.

Toolkit: How Early Care and Education Providers Can Help Keep Children Up-to-Date on Vaccinations
This toolkit from the Public Health Foundation details five evidence-based strategies early care and education providers can implement to strengthen pediatric vaccination coverage. Resources can be downloaded, adapted, and shared with your program or community. The toolkit includes parent and guardian handouts, communication materials such as newsletter blurbs and social media content, conversation guides, and off-site vaccination information.

Health Centers: Revenue, Grant Funding, and Methods for Meeting Certain Access-To-Care Requirements
This March 2024 United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) report provides an overview of health centers’ revenue for 2018–2022. Health centers rely on revenue from a variety of public and private sources, including grants awarded by HRSA through its Health Center Program. Among other things, HRSA requires health centers to have locations and hours that are responsive to patient needs, and to have procedures to handle medical emergencies that arise after hours. GAO’s analysis of HRSA’s site visit findings from 2018 through 2022 found that over 93% of the 1,391 health centers that had a site visit complied with access-to-care requirements.

New: GISVaxView
GISVaxView (geographic information system) from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is a site for mapping geospatial vaccination related data across the lifespan. This system is used to provide jurisdictions and other partners geospatial data and tools to inform planning, implementation, and evaluation of vaccine activities and outcomes. The system allows visitors to better understand the local-level indicators that contribute to vaccine confidence and coverage, visualize data for populations at increased risk, identify community resources and barriers, and connect community stakeholders.

Developing a Telehealth Model to Improve Treatment Access for Rural Veterans with Substance Use Disorders
This study, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Research and Development, will pilot-test and obtain stakeholder input on a telehealth-delivered substance use disorder care model with the goal of increasing treatment utilization and improving outcomes for rural and non-rural Veterans with substance use disorders. This study will take place in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
HIV Prevention Intervention for Latino Male Couples
This study, sponsored by the University of Central Florida in collaboration with the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, will test the efficacy of Connecting Latinxs en Pareja, a four-session intervention grounded in social cognitive theory and a relationship oriented ecological framework. This study will take place in Orlando, Florida.

Summer Research Training Institute
The Summer Research Training Institute is an intensive research training program of the Northwest Native American Research Center for Health. The curriculum is designed by skilled instructors to meet the needs of American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) professionals and students interested in Native health. Courses will be held in Portland, Oregon, and will emphasize research skills, program design, and implementation.
