Virtual Listening Sessions: American Climate Corps
Last September, the Biden-Harris administration announced the American Climate Corps. This workforce training and service initiative will provide young people with access to the skills-based training necessary for good-paying careers in the clean energy and climate resilience economy. Starting this month, administration officials will hold a series of virtual listening sessions to hear directly from prospective American Climate Corps applicants and implementing partners, including labor unions, educational institutions, employer partners, and state, local and tribal governments about their priorities for the American Climate Corps.

Meeting of the Advisory Committee on Minority Health
On February 13-14, the Advisory Committee on Minority Health (ACMH) will have a meeting focusing on the implementation of the anticipated updates to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) federal race and ethnicity data collection standards. Pre-registration is required for the public to attend the meeting, provide comments, and/or distribute printed materials to ACMH members.
Members of the public must register for the meeting by January 30, at 5:00 p.m. ET.

HHS Environmental Justice Community Innovator Challenge
Challenge grant from the HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) seeks Tribal and community-led strategies to address health disparities in Tribes and communities disproportionately burdened by environmental and climate change-related hazards.
Phase 1 Deadline is January 30, 2024.
Rural Residency Planning and Development Program
Grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to expand access to health care in rural areas by developing rural residency programs that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), to address the physician workforce shortages and challenges faced by rural communities.
Deadline is February 12, by 11:59 p.m. ET.
Small Research Grant Program for the Next Generation of Researchers in AD/ADRD Research
Grant from the NIH will support projects aimed at improving the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and/or care for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias and encourage next generation of researchers to pursue research and academic careers in Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias research.
Deadline is February 16.

New Data Brief Highlights Mental and Behavioral Health Disparities
The America's Health Rankings “Health Equity in Focus: 2023 Mental and Behavioral Health Data Brief” from the United Health Foundation analyzed 15 mental and behavioral health measures across five subpopulation groups using data from four national public health surveys. Mental and behavioral health disparities were observed across racial and ethnic groups, age groups, people with disabilities, and other subgroups.

Targeted Technical Assistance for Rural Hospitals Program
The Targeted Technical Assistance for Rural Hospitals Program (TTAP) offers comprehensive technical assistance to rural hospitals to address financial and operational challenges and assist rural communities with maintaining essential health services. Hospitals are supported over a two-year period through an evidence-based process for identifying, prioritizing, and implementing strategies for positioning their organization for financial stability.

Cervical Cancer Prevention for Black Adults
This study, sponsored by the University of Kentucky in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute, will develop and pilot test an intervention, entitled Health is Wealth: A Cervical Health Program, designed to promote screening and reduce perceived barriers to cervical cancer screening among African American and Sub-Saharan African communities. This study will take place in Lexington, Kentucky.
Providing Financial Incentives to Improve Adherence to Referral Eye Care Visits
This study, sponsored by the University of Alabama at Birmingham in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will evaluate the effectiveness of a telemedicine-based detection and management strategy for glaucoma associated diseases and other eye diseases in patients seen at Federally Qualified Health Centers located in the rural Alabama Black Belt Region. This study will take place in Birmingham, Alabama.
