State of Obesity 2023: Better Policies for a Healthier America
The Trust for America’s Health released the 20th annual State of Obesity report in 2023. The report notes the continued rise in obesity rates and the policy recommendations to address them. Over the past two decades obesity rates have climbed for all population groups with certain populations of color experiencing the highest rates, often due to structural barriers to healthy eating and a lack of opportunities and places to be physically active.

Updated: HHS MyHealthfinder Adds Anxiety Disorder Resources
MyHealthfinder is a prevention and wellness resource that health professionals can recommend to individuals and families with evidence-based health information that’s actionable and easy to use. The HHS Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion recently announced the addition of resources helping adults 64 and younger identify signs and symptoms of anxiety disorders, describes common treatments, and suggests actionable steps people can take to get support.

NYC Cancer Outreach Network in Neighborhoods for Equity and Community Translation
This study, sponsored by the New York University Langone Health in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will evaluate the effectiveness of two evidence-based strategies in increasing cancer screening rates for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer using a combination of culturally and linguistically tailored education materials and community health workers to provide navigation services. This study will take place in New York, New York.
Maternal Mental Health Access
This study, sponsored by the University of Utah in collaboration with the National Institute of Nursing Research, will evaluate the effectiveness of a web-based program aimed at preventing perinatal depression and integrated with maternal clinical care. This study will take place in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Public Health Laboratory Fellowship and Internship Programs
The Public Health Laboratory Programs from the Association of Public Health Laboratories and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention help eligible applicants start new careers in laboratory science. Fellowships support a wide spectrum of public health laboratory program areas, such as: environmental health, informatics, newborn screening, and more.
