Publication: U.S. Playbook to Address Social Determinants of Health
The White House released the first ever U.S. Playbook to Address Social Determinants of Health. The Playbook will lay out an initial set of structural actions agencies are taking to collaborate and support equitable health outcomes across communities.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released the HHS Call to Action: Addressing Health-Related Social Needs in Communities Across the Nation to accompany the release of the Playbook. The Call to Action asks partners across health care, social care, public and environmental health, government, and health information technology organizations to take shared and individual actions to promote system transformation and collaboration.

November is National COPD Awareness Month
According to the CDC, women have a higher prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), while men die at higher rates from COPD than women. National COPD Awareness Month serves as a way to bring greater awreness to COPD and help health professionals connect their patients to useful resources.
COPD prevalance varies by race, rurality, gender, and age. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s Learn More Breathe Better program provides health professionals with information needed to reach their specific communities.

This study, sponsored by the University of California, Los Angeles, will examine how social isolation and discrimination relate to eating behaviors and dietary patterns and affect obesity rates for Mexican and Filipina women. This study will take place in Los Angeles, California.
Reducing Disparity in Receipt of Mother's Own Milk in Very Low Birth Weight Infants
This study, sponsored by the Rush University Medical Center in collaboration with the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, will conduct a randomized trial aimed at eliminating the financial barriers to providing mother’s own milk to Black very low birth weight infants. This study will take place in Chicago, Illinois.

Naloxone Education for School Nurses Toolkit
The National Association of School Nurses created the Naloxone Education Toolkit in collaboration with the National Institute on Drug Abuse to help address drug overdoses in communities. School nurses and other school leaders will find resources to help them assess the need for a program and evaluate and respond to the overdose crisis.
Building Equity, Serving BIPOC LGBTQ+ Communities Training Series
This training from AIDS United provides healthcare professionals with the tools needed to build health equity in their practices and provide culturally competent care to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) LGBTQ+ communities.
