U.S. Department of Education Toolkit: Creating Inclusive and Nondiscriminatory School Environments for LGBTQI+ Students
The U.S. Department of Education published the Creating Inclusive and Nondiscriminatory School Environments for LGBTQI+ Students Toolkit for school districts to encourage the creation of clubs centered around Gender and Sexuality Alliances.
Student-led groups can be an important part of creating safe, inclusive and supportive educational environments for LGBTQI+ students and students with LGBTQI+ parents, friends, or family members. The toolkit compiles information from the U.S. Department of Education, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the U.S. Department of Justice to help guide school officials in creating these student-led groups.

Call for Comments on the 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services seek feedback on the calendar year 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule that announces rate updates, advances health equity, and expands access to critical medical services — including behavioral health care and certain oral health services. Deadline for comments is September 11.

Issue Report: The Impact of Chronic Underfunding on America’s Public Health System
The U.S. faces a growing burden of chronic diseases which are closely tied to social determinants of health and the impact of health inequities. The lack of consistent and sufficient funding for the public health system hinders the system’s ability to develop programs that address factors contributing to chronic diseases.
The Trust for America’s Health report, The Impact of Chronic Underfunding on America’s Public Health System, outlines the importance of public health systems in prevention health and the need for increased funding for public health infrastructure, research surveillance, and rapid-response capabilities.

This study, sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania, seeks to use an online social network approach to demonstrate how reducing the online levels of network centralization among African American community members directly increases their productive engagement with health-promoting information. This study will be conducted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Promoting HPV Vaccination Among Young Adults in Texas
This study, sponsored by M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute, will use a randomized controlled trial to test a multilevel intervention to increase HPV vaccination rates among young adults. This study will be conducted in Houston, Texas.

The Massachusetts General Hospital Fellowship Program in Rural Health Leadership provides training to early-career clinicians who seek to partner with rural communities to improve health. Deadline for application is October 30.
Supporting Vaccination: A Toolkit for Community Health Workers
The Digital Medic initiative at Stanford University created a digital vaccination training for community health workers to expand immunization understanding and uptake worldwide. The Supporting Vaccination Toolkit will equip community health workers with knowledge and strategies to increase vaccine acceptance in their communities. Resources include videos, audio files, and infographics, available in English, Spanish, and other languages.
