New: Federal Policy to Advance Racial, Ethnic, and Tribal Health Equity Report
Many health inequities result from unequal access to quality health care, education, employment, and other factors disproportionately affecting racial and ethnic minority populations.
A new report commissioned by OMH from the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine analyzes how past and current federal policies create, maintain, and/or amplify racial, ethnic, and tribal health inequities. It also identifies key features of policies that have served to reduce inequities and makes recommendations to help achieve racial, ethnic, and tribal health equity.

New: Think Cultural Health Newsletter
OMH Think Cultural Health (TCH) launched a newsletter dedicated to raising awareness of culturally and linguistically appropriate services (CLAS) in health and health care.
CLAS is a way for health and healthcare professionals to provide respectful and responsive services, improve quality of care, and advance health equity. OMH developed a set of 15 action steps called the National CLAS Standards to guide organizations in providing CLAS.
The July 2023 edition of the newsletter highlights cultural humility in practice, National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, the National CLAS Standards, and TCH’s updated Health Equity timeline.
