Approaching Deadline for OMH Funding Opportunities
The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) is dedicated to improving the health of racial and ethnic minority populations through the development of policies and programs that will help eliminate health disparities. Through grants and cooperative agreements, OMH supports the development and implementation of effective approaches for improving health outcomes with the goal of promoting the dissemination and sustainability of these approaches.
OMH is accepting applications for the following funding opportunities, all closing on August 1, by 6:00 p.m. ET:

July 27: Release Webinar for the Federal Policy to Advance Racial, Ethnic, and Tribal Health Equity Report
Many health inequities result from unequal access to quality health care, education, employment, and other factors that disproportionately affect racially and ethnically minoritized populations.
Join the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine for the release webinar of the report Federal Policy to Advance Racial, Ethnic, and Tribal Health Equity. This report, commissioned by OMH, analyzes how past and current federal policies create, maintain, and/or amplify racial, ethnic, and tribal health inequities. During this webinar, members of the report authoring committee will provide an overview of key conclusions and recommendations and answer audience questions.

HDPulse: An Ecosystem of Minority Health Research Resources
What are health disparities, and how do they affect your community? Find the answers on HDPulse, an ecosystem of health disparities data and intervention materials from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities.
HDPulse is a free-to-use online resource providing national, state, and county-level data on minority health and health disparities. The redesigned Data Portal supports efforts by researchers, public health professionals, and policymakers to advance minority health and health disparities control-related initiatives. Data topics include:
- Health knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors
- The social, economic, and cultural environment
- The physical environment
- The healthcare system, including insurance and access to care

Louisiana Healthcare Workforce Collective Impact Grants
Grants from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation for organizations working to implement educational, recruitment, retention, and related programs to address the critical shortages in Louisiana’s healthcare workforce.
Deadline for letter of intent is September 1.
Medica Foundation Rural Health Grant
Grant from the Medica Foundation to support nonprofit, community-led solutions that address health needs and social determinants of health in rural communities.
Deadline is September 1.
Pilot and Feasibility Studies in Preparation for Substance Use Prevention Trials
Grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to encourage pilot and/or feasibility research in the development and pilot testing of new or adapted interventions to prevent or delay the initiation of substance use and/or the progression from use to misuse and pre-trial feasibility and acceptability testing of services and service system research relevant to the prevention of substance use.
Deadline is October 16.

Rural Catalyst Grants
Grant from the Boettcher Foundation to strengthen the internal capacity of Colorado organizations working in the areas of mental health, rural housing, and more.
Deadline for inquiry form is September 1.
Wildhorse Foundation Grants
Grant from the Wildhorse Foundation to support tribes and Native American organizations that serve individuals in the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla tribes of Oregon and Washington in the areas of public health, education, and more.

Epidemiologic Research on Emerging Risk Factors and Liver Cancer Susceptibility
Grant from the NIH to promote epidemiologic research investigating novel and innovative hypotheses on emerging biological, environmental, and social risk factors and their interplay with established risk factors such as viral hepatitis associated with the development of liver cancer.

The Community Engagement Alliance at the National Institutes of Health released tip sheets to help researchers and communities learn how to support effective community engagement in clinical trials.
It includes steps for researchers to take that will help build trust and buy-in such as including community members at every stage, identifying community champions, and more.

National Model Standards for Peer Support Certification
President Biden announced his administration’s strategy to address our nation’s mental health crisis. Part of this strategy addresses the need for accelerating the universal adoption, recognition, and integration of the peer mental health workforce across all elements of the healthcare system.
To meet this goal, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration collaborated with federal, state, tribal, territorial, and local partners to develop the National Model Standards for Peer Support Certification. These standards closely align with the needs of the behavioral health (peer) workforce and the over-arching goal of the national mental health strategy.

July 28 is World Hepatitis Day
World Hepatitis Day is observed every year on July 28 to raise awareness about viral hepatitis, educate people about the burden of these infections, and actions people can take to prevent them.
Join the World Hepatitis Alliance and its partners in their efforts to eliminate viral hepatitis globally. Use World Hepatitis Day campaign materials, available in multiple languages, to spread the word that Hepatitis Can’t Wait.

Designing an Implementation Strategy for Delivering Routine Mental Health Screening and Treatment
This study, sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health, will provide digital cognitive behavioral therapy that reaches patients in different settings to decrease stigma and make it more relatable and relevant to young adults. This study will be conducted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Preventing Anxiety and Depression in Older Hispanics
This study, sponsored by the University of Miami in collaboration with the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, intends to look at the best ways to prevent anxiety and depression in older Latino adults who are at risk for developing anxiety and depression. Participants will be randomized to either a health promotion intervention or a healthy lifestyle education program. This study will be conducted in Miami, Florida.

AgriSafe Nurse Scholar Program
The AgriSafe Nurse Scholar Program is a distance learning opportunity designed for rural nurses. Experienced health and safety educators share their expertise in preventing, identifying, and assessing diseases related to agricultural work exposures. Partial and full scholarships are available.
New England Health Equity Stipend Program
The New England Public Health Training Center Health Equity Stipend Program awards financial support to public health and health program students conducting field placement projects or faculty-student collaborative projects.

In recognition of World Hepatitis Day, the OMH Knowledge Center is highlighting Hispanics/Latinx and Hepatitis: An Overlooked Health Disparity from the Latino Commission on AIDS and the Hispanic Health Network. This brief document provides information on the health disparities related to Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) in the Hispanic/Latinx community in the U.S. and makes recommendations for mitigating these disparities, such as increasing HCV surveillance, promoting linguistically accessible HCV awareness campaigns, and ensuring access to equitable prevention and treatment for HCV within this community.
