New OMH Funding Opportunity: Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity
The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) seeks applications for two cooperative agreements to support a Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity (CIIHE). The CIIHE will work to advance sustainable solutions that address indigenous health disparities and advance health equity in American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) populations.
Recipients will implement an innovative and culturally appropriate framework to prevent and improve chronic diseases like obesity, hypertension, and diabetes in AI/AN and NHPI populations.

Celebrate National Men’s Health Week and Wear Blue Day
Join OMH in observing National Men’s Health Week (June 12-18) to help raise awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys. As part of the observance week, Wear Blue Day will be celebrated on June 16 to bring further awareness to the health disparities faced by men in the U.S.

New 2023 Healthy Start Fact Sheet
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Healthy Start program invests in communities to improve health outcomes before, during, and after pregnancy. Local Healthy Start projects tailor services to the needs of their communities to help reduce racial and ethnic differences in rates of infant death and maternal health outcomes.
Recently, HRSA released the 2023 Healthy Start Fact Sheet detailing how funding is being used across projects, demographic details of Healthy Start participants, and more.

Updated Number for the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline: 1-833-TLC-MAMA
This year marks the first anniversary of the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline, serving almost 12,000 pregnant and postpartum people.
The HRSA introduced an updated toll-free number for the hotline: 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262). The former number (1-833-9-HELP-4-MOMS or 1-833-943-5746) will continue to work for another year. Health care providers and other community organizations can share updated flyers, magnets, and other materials to raise awareness of the Hotline in their community.

Improving Mental Health Among the LGBTQ+ Community
This study, sponsored by Brown University in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health, aims to improve the mental health of people who identify as LGBTQ+ by increasing their social support through a brief intervention This study will be conducted in Providence, Rhode Island.
Reducing Stroke Risk in African American Men (TEAM2)
This study, sponsored by the Case Western Reserve University in collaboration with the National Institute of Nursing Research, will evaluate the effects of targeted management intervention vs. waitlist control in African American men who have experienced a stroke or transient ischemic attack within the past five years. This study will be conducted in Cleveland, Ohio.

Health Equity Internship Program
The Health Equity Internship Program from the Association of State Public Health Nutritionists is designed for students enrolled in a public health program within federally designated minority-serving institutions (MSIs) and underrepresented students enrolled in non-MSIs. Students will gain real-world experience from federal, regional, state, and local health agencies for 12 weeks in the Fall by completing health equity projects in the areas of HIV, cancer, obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, lupus, nutrition, and more.
Deadline for Application is June 30.
Agricultural Health and Safety Course for Medical and Safety Professionals
The Agricultural Health and Safety Course for Medical and Safety Professionals offered by the University of Nebraska Medical Center is designed to examine key health and safety issues specific to rural and agricultural workers for health care, public health, education, and safety professionals. Attendants will learn about agricultural health, safety and prevention, and other special topics relevant to the health of agricultural workers.
