June is Men’s Health Month
Throughout June, Men’s Health Month aims to encourage boys and men to take charge of their overall health by implementing healthy living decisions.
The HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) remains committed to advancing Better Health Through Better Understanding for racial and ethnic minority boys and men by providing them with culturally and linguistically competent healthcare services and improving access to health care information for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP).
Visit our Men's Health Month website, also available in Spanish, to learn more about disparities in men’s health, and to access downloadable templates, shareable graphics, and social media messaging as well as other men’s health-related resources.

June is LGBTQI+ Pride Month
This June, learn how the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is providing enhanced resources for LGBTQI+ health issues, developing better information regarding LGBTQI+ health needs, and working to close the LGBTQI+ health disparities gap.
Also, be sure to check out the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated the Get Healthy and Ready for Summer website, also available in Spanish, to keep members of the LGBTQI+ community up to date on important health topics such as vaccinations for COVID-19 and mpox.

Family Counseling and Support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex+ Youth and their Families
Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to prevent health and behavioral health risks and to promote well-being for LGBTQI+ youth in the context of their families/caregivers, cultures, and communities. Deadline is July 3.
Closing the Gap with Social Determinants of Health Accelerator Plans
Grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to develop multi-sector action plans that address the social determinants of health by accelerating action in state, local, territorial, and tribal jurisdictions, and communities that lead to improved chronic health conditions among Americans experiencing health disparities and inequality. Deadline is July 11, by 11:59 p.m. ET.
Support for 988 Tribal Response Cooperative Agreements
Cooperative agreement from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to improve response to 988 contacts originating in Tribal communities and/or activated by American Indian and Alaska Native individuals. Deadline is July 18, by 11:59 p.m. ET.

Navigating the System: How Medicare Advantage Is Uniquely Positioned to Support Men of Color with Chronic Conditions
Black men disproportionately suffer from chronic illness, have poorer prognoses, and are diagnosed later than other demographic groups:
- Black men are twice as likely to have Type 2 diabetes than white men,
- Black men are twice as likely to die prematurely from cardiovascular disease than white men and,
- Stroke prevalence is 80 percent higher among Black men than in white men.
The report Navigating the System: How Medicare Advantage Is Uniquely Positioned to Support Men of Color with Chronic Conditions from the Men’s Health Network details how Medicare Advantage plans can better help Black men navigate care for chronic illnesses later in life.

National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse
The National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse (NRFC) is an Administration for Children and Families Office of Family Assistance funded national resource for fathers, practitioners, programs, federal grantees, states, and the public at-large who are serving or interested in supporting strong fathers and families.
NRFC produces and compiles research and innovative strategies about parenting, health, interpersonal skills, and more to help individuals and organizations learn more about strengthening fathers and families. Organizations can use the Responsible Fatherhood Toolkit, press releases, social media graphics, and join a collaborative community to discuss how to make fatherhood-centered programs a success in your community.

This study, sponsored by Brown University in collaboration with the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, aims to develop and test a mindfulness-based program for young adult gay, bisexual, and queer men at risk for HIV. This study will be conducted in Providence, Rhode Island.
Eliminating Barriers to Colorectal Cancer Screening Using Rapid Cycle Testing
This study, sponsored by the Massachusetts General Hospital in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute, aims to identify barriers and facilitators to screening, and implementation science methods to test multilevel implementation strategies at health centers. This study will be conducted in Boston, Massachusetts.

Men’s Health Educator Training
The Certified Men’s Health Educator Training provided by the Men’s Health Network in association with the Rural Health Association of Tennessee aims to improve the services provided by health educators, primary care practice providers and staff, faith-based organizations, teachers and social service providers, coaches, and community leaders. Participants will learn how to communicate effectively with boys and men, recognize and address sociocultural considerations that are unique to the many subpopulations of boys and men, and more.
National Center for American Indian Health Professions Pre-Admission Workshops
The Pre-Admission Workshops from the National Center for American Indian Health Professions (NCAIHP) at A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona provides prospective American Indian and Alaska Native students with healthcare career advising, assistance with admissions applications, financial advising, academic support, and more. The NCAIHP is dedicated to promoting the health of Indian Country by helping American Indians and Alaska Natives to become physicians, dentists, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals. Deadline for Application is June 12.
