May is National Stroke Awareness Month
Stroke is a major issue in the U.S., leading to death and disability among adults, particularly non-Hispanic Blacks with high mortality rates. However, it can be prevented and treated.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention (DHDSP) provides public education about the basics of stroke. Their Stroke Communications Kit contains resources and downloadable materials to help spread information about stroke signs and symptoms, preventative measures, stroke treatment, and other related topics.

June 4: National Cancer Survivors Day
Despite significant progress over the last decades in reducing deaths due to cancer, not all people benefit equally. In the U.S., overall survival rates for cancer are lowest for Black people, followed by American Indian/Alaska Native people. Other populations, such as Hispanic/Latino people, people with disabilities, and sexual and gender minority individuals, also experience disparities in cancer care and outcomes.
On June 4, join the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation to celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day. This observance day aims to recognize cancer survivors, increase awareness about their ongoing challenges, and celebrate life
