HHS Celebrates Women’s History Month
March is Women's History Month, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) remains committed to supporting women and ensuring their access to health care. HHS programs and initiatives have focused on improving the lives of women and their families in their communities, homes, and workplaces.
Whether it’s developing and understanding the best practices for care delivery, raising awareness around diseases and conditions that disproportionately impact women, or providing quality health care in federally-funded health centers, HHS has—and will continue to—advance the health and well-being of every woman in America.

Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University SDOH Projects
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) is a public, historically Black university located in Tallahassee, Florida. Through several departments, FAMU researchers contribute valuable work to the topic of social determinants of health (SDOH). Some examples of their work include:
- The FAMU Center for Health Disparities Research, a community partnership to expose social determinants and behavioral and ethical factors that may influence COVID-19 vaccination among racial, ethnic, and vulnerable community populations in Gadsden County, Florida.
- The Test Up Now Education Program (TUNE-UP), a behavioral clinical trial funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) Research Centers in Minority Institutions Program to test the effectiveness of a community health advisor intervention to boost stool-based screening in African Americans.

CDC Launches a New Tribal Public Health Data Site
The CDC has launched an online Tribal Public Health Data site to assist tribal partners and others with information and tools related to tribal data.
The site provides guidance on accessing CDC tribal data; information on tribal data issues, tools, technical assistance, and training; and tribal data-related resources from public health partners. This site will continue to grow as CDC engages further with tribes and tribal organizations to provide the most needed data-related information.

Perspectives on Advancing NIH Research to Inform and Improve the Health of Women Report
Following a 2021 request from Congress, the NIH organized a conference to evaluate current research activities related to women's health to address rising maternal morbidity and mortality rates, increasing rates of chronic debilitating conditions in women, and stagnant cervical cancer survival rates.
The report Perspectives on Advancing NIH Research to Inform and Improve the Health of Women provides background on the public health needs of the three priority topics and a meeting summary of the conference.

Women’s Health In Focus at NIH: Disparities and Workforce Diversity in Mental Health
Women and individuals from many minoritized racial and ethnic populations remain underrepresented in the mental health workforce and people from most underserved racial and ethnic groups are less likely than non-Hispanic White people to receive behavioral health care.
The NIH Office on Women’s Research (ORWH) quarterly publication Women’s Health In Focus at NIH features information about women's health. Their latest issue focuses on disparities and workforce diversity in the mental health field.

Evidence-Based Approach to Empower Asian American Women in Cervical Cancer Screening
This study, sponsored by the Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University, intends to evaluate the effects of a community-based intervention on increasing cervical cancer screening rates in underserved Korean and Vietnamese American women. All women will receive an educational program and navigation assistance. This study will be conducted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Mammography and Breast Arterial Calcification: An Information-Sharing Trial
This study, sponsored by the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, intends to determine the potential benefits of adding information on patients' breast arterial calcification (BAC) results to the standard results letter women receive after mammography. This study will be conducted in New York, New York.
